tellmewhyimwrong.com is designed to generate discussion about the credit union industry and the topics that impact credit union growth and development. Contributing authors express opinions on a variety of topics from executive leadership and lending practices, to financial technology innovation and more. The site, however, is not meant to behave purely as a soap box; instead, our writers challenge readers to “Tell Me Why I’m Wrong.” By contributing to the site through your comments, you create an environment for cooperative discussion. It is through this public discourse that we can help shape the future of the industry.

Contributors
Randy Karnes, CEO, CU*Answers – Since 1994, Mr. Karnes has been CEO of CU*Answers, a credit union-owned CUSO that provides core processing, consulting, management, and technology services. An active participant in the credit union industry since 1985, Mr. Karnes currently serves on the Boards of Xtend and eDOC Innovations and formerly served on the Board of Callahan and Associates for many years.
Mr. Karnes is an active speaker and facilitator for credit union Board planning sessions and industry events across the country, and regularly participates in industry commentary in forums such as www.creditunions.com. Mr. Karnes has an infectious vision and drive for bringing credit unions together to explore the power of collaboration in entirely new ways. His enthusiasm for imagining and building new credit union business models has been helping to change the way many credit unions will approach serving members now and in the future.
Vic Pantea, President, Pantea Consulting – Vic Pantea is getting older, grayer, less tolerant of bureaucratic tomfoolery, and is generally difficult to reason with, but he also believes that credit unions are one of the last bastions of true democracy and worthy of every ounce of effort to preserve. After 41 adult years of working in and for credit unions and CUSOs he still can still hear his friend and mentor, Ed Callahan remind him that, “It’s all about the members, stupid!”
He’s proud of his efforts to help build on the strategy of collaborative innovation, a healthy and successful NACUSO, and the CUSOs that have resulted from that effort. His circle of friends includes more than several “radical” credit union leaders who aren’t afraid to challenge the status quo and be “rock the boat” disruptive while others would prefer the calm passiveness of doing nothing when the roots of credit union philosophy and tradition is being threatened.
Esteban Camargo, Editor – Esteban Camargo has worked at CU*Answers since 2008. As editor he is responsible for coordinating the editorial content for the site, which includes reviewing op-ed pitches, moderating the comments, copy editing and assisting with online coordination.
